As one of Skift’s data partners, we provide flight data (powered by OAG Metis) to enable the reporting of travel performance along with other key data points - together this creates the Skift Travel Health Index, a vital source to track the travel industry’s recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic.
The year is looking optimistic so far:
- Growing demand has helped all regions push performance
- Latin America is out-performing 2019, while North America has reached full
recovery and Europe and the Middle East aren't far behind. - Even amidst economic-, war- and pandemic-related challenges, 2023 should still be a strong year for travel.
"Although not full recovery, the travel industry gained substantial momentum at the beginning of the new year. All regions have almost recovered from the pandemic blues, Asia Pacific being the only exception. With loosening travel restrictions and re-opening of China, we expect 2023 to be a strong year for travel." - Saniya Zanpure
