Infographic: Which South East Asian Country Has Most Airline Capacity?

This month we're using OAG's Schedules Analyser data to shine a spotlight on South East Asia, where airline capacity is currently 19% behind the level of the same month in 2019, but has seen a 36% improvement since this time last year.

In April 2023, Indonesia, the region's most populous country, is the country with most airline capacity.

Thailand has some way to go to recovery (at 71% of 2019 levels) but takes second place in the list of countries with most capacity at 6,047,377 seats in April.

In third place on the table, Viet Nam is the only country in SE Asia to have fully recovered - and surpassed, just - 2019 levels of airline capacity.

Top South East Asian Airlines and Airports

Every month, we track data from South East Asia including the busiest routes, most recovered country markets, busiest airports and airlines.

Looking at airlines and airports in the SE Asia region, these are the headlines from this month:

  • Jakarta is the largest airport by capacity in SE Asia in April, with 2,934,331 seats.
  • The airports adding the most capacity this month are Bangkok (66,733) , Singapore (54,052) and Manila (46,777).
  • When it comes to airlines, Lion Air remains SE Asia's largest carrier by seat volume, and is also the fastest-growing airline,  increasing capacity by 10.5%. It now matches its capacity level of April 2019.
