Air Passenger Data & Analysis Tool Launch | OAG

The new product is aimed at airports, tourist boards and financial institutions

Las Vegas, USA, 6 October 2013: OAG, the market leader in aviation intelligence is today launching OAG Traffic Analyser, a powerful online analysis tool that provides access to scheduled airline passenger booking data.

OAG Traffic Analyser has been developed in partnership with Travelport, a leading distribution services and e-commerce provider for the global travel industry.

The product utilises passenger booking information from Travelport Illuminate™, allowing users to gain detailed insight into areas such as the number of passengers originating and arriving at a particular airport, load factors on each flight, the size of passenger origin and destination markets and booked seats on specific routes. All data can be presented in a report format or through an integrated mapping function, which allows users to create dynamic visualisations of traffic flows.

The new product is aimed at airports, tourist boards and financial institutions. For airport route development teams, OAG Traffic Analyser provides an ideal means of calculating the size of the passenger market between airports, countries and regions; developing comparative analyses against competing airports; forecasting passenger traffic for existing or potential services; and monitoring the revenue performance and profitability of routes. The product also allows airports’ commercial teams to understand the true traffic composition of their airport, including the total number of passengers who are originating, arriving and transferring.

For tourist boards, OAG Traffic Analyser can be used to understand how many air travellers are visiting their destination, how they are getting there and how the destination compares to rival locations. Meanwhile, investment banks and private equity firms involved in the sale or purchase of an airline or airport can utilise the product to understand the current performance of the asset, analyse trends and develop detailed forecasts.

Phil Callow, chief executive officer, OAG, says: “In an industry first, OAG Traffic Analyser allows users to take passenger booking behaviour and dynamically visualise the traffic flows, to gain a sound understanding of where passengers are coming from and where they are going to.

“Users can access accurate passenger booking origin and destination data from 2010 onwards and, as OAG’s Traffic Analyser can be tailored to individual needs, data can be delivered in the format the end user wants. Thanks to the integrated PowerTables functionality, custom datasets can be created at the touch of a button.”

Derek Sharp, managing director, Global Distribution Sales & Services, Travelport, says: “Travelport is one of the global travel industry’s leading providers of airline data intelligence, processing and analysis tools. We are pleased to partner with OAG on the development of OAG’s Traffic Analyser. Travelport Illuminate™ is just one of several outstanding business intelligence tools we offer for airlines, travel agencies, airport authorities and tourism boards.”

OAG Traffic Analyser is the fourth module in the OAG Analyser suite, which also includes OAG Connections Analyser, OAG Schedules Analyser and OAG Mapper. To ensure absolute accuracy, OAG Traffic Analyser is continually validated against the OAG Schedules database, which contains data for more than 900 airlines and 4,000 airports.
