BUSIEST DOMESTIC AIRLINE ROUTES | JULY 2024

  • In July 2024, the Top 10 Busiest Domestic Airline Routes are all the same as last month.
  • Jeju (CJU) to Seoul (GMP) continues to be the busiest domestic route in the world with 1.2 million seats with seats per day decreasing by 1% compared to last month.
  • Hokkaido’s Chitose Airport (CTS) to Tokyo Haneda (HND) is the second busiest route with 1.0 million seats, a 1% increase in seats per day compared to last month.
  • Hanoi (HAN) to Ho Chi Minh City (SGN) and Tokyo Haneda (HND) to Okinawa (OKA) have both had the biggest increase in seats per day this month compared to last month increasing by 5%.
  • Hanoi (HAN) to Ho Chi Minh City (SGN) moves up a place to third with 976,694 seats and Tokyo Haneda (HND) to Okinawa (OKA) moves up 3 places to be in sixth this month with 708,020 seats.
  • Beijing (PEK) to Shanghai Hongqiao (SHA) has had the biggest decrease in seats per day dropping by 9% and moving down 2 places to ninth.

CHINA'S TOP 10 BUSIEST DOMESTIC AIRLINE ROUTES | JULY 2024


KEY POINTS

  • Despite seats per day decreasing by 9% compared to last month, Beijing (PEK) to Shanghai Hongqiao (SHA) continues to be the Busiest Domestic Route in China with 624,021 seats.
  • Guangzhou (CAN) to Shanghai Hongqiao (SHA) is the second busiest route with 577,825 seats and Shanghai Hongqiao (SHA) to Shenzhen (SZX) is in third place with 575,894 seats, there is just 1,934 seats (0.3%) between these two routes.
  • Beijing (PEK) to Shenzhen (SZX) has had the biggest drop in seats per day in the top 10 this month compared to last month with a decrease of 14% and is in fourth place.
  • Hangzhou (HGH) to Shenzhen has had the biggest increase in seats per day this month compared to last month adding 7% more which has moved this route up two places to be the seventh busiest domestic route in China.  

USA'S TOP 10 BUSIEST DOMESTIC AIRLINE ROUTES | JULY 2024


KEY POINTS

  • Anchorage (ANC) to Seattle (SEA) has moved up four places to be the Busiest Domestic Route in the USA for July 2024 with 292,290 seats. This route has had the biggest increase in seats per day in the top 10 this month compared to June 2024 adding 8% more. Anchorage (ANC) to Seattle (SEA) also had a large increase in capacity last month adding 20% more seats per day.
  • With only a 1% difference in capacity, New York La Guardia (LGA) to Chicago O’Hare (ORD) is the second busiest domestic route in the USA with 289,152 seats.
  • Honolulu (HNL) to Kahului (OGG) continues in third place with 287,286 seats and similar capacity to last month.
  • Atlanta (ATL) to Orlando (MCO) has had the biggest decrease in seats per day this month compared to last month, dropping 2%, which moves this route from being the busiest domestic route in the USA in June 2024 to the fourth busiest in July 2024.
  • Los Angeles (LAX) to Chicago O’Hare (ORD) has moved up into the top 10 busiest domestic routes in the USA and Atlanta (ATL) to Fort Lauderdale (FLL) has dropped out.

BUSIEST INTERNATIONAL AIRLINE ROUTES | JULY 2024


KEY POINTS

  • All routes in the Busiest International Top 10 in July 2024 are also the same as last month.
  • Hong Kong (HKG) to Taipei (TPE) continues to be the Busiest International route with 581,340 seats.
  • Seoul Incheon (ICN) to Tokyo Narita (NRT) moves up two places to be the second busiest international route this month with 466,530 seats.
  • Cairo (CAI) to Jeddah (JED) has had the biggest drop in seats per day this month compared to last month, decreasing by 11%, which moves this route down a place to third with 466,510 seats. There are only 20 seats between second and third place.
  • Kuala Lumpur (KUL) to Singapore Changi (SIN) is in fourth place with 465,554 seats.

  • Seven of the routes in the top 10 Busiest International routes for July 2024 are from Asia Pacific region, two routes are from the Middle East and one from Africa, Europe and North America.

The busiest air routes are defined as those with the largest volume of scheduled airline seats in the current calendar month. Data is for flights in both directions on each route and is sourced from OAG Schedules Analyser in the first week of each month. The data reflects the most recent full calendar month for the busiest scheduled domestic and international aviation routes in each category.
