Which sOUTHeAST aSIAN Country Has The Most Airline Capacity (Domestic + International)?
- Indonesia remains the largest country market in Southeast Asia in January 2026, with 11 million seats. Capacity has grown slightly this month, up 0.6% compared to January 2025. Thailand is the second-largest market with 8.7m seats, a 4.3% increase in capacity vs last year.
- The markets showing the largest growth in seats this month are Viet Nam and the Philippines, adding 627,000 and 588,000 seats respectively compared with January 2025.
- In contrast, Myanmar’s capacity has fallen by 19.6% year-on-year with a reduction of 65,000 seats.

- Indonesia is Southeast Asia’s largest domestic market in January 2026 with 8.7 million seats, despite a marginal 0.1% decrease in capacity (5,000 fewer seats) compared to January 2025.
- Domestic capacity increased most by volume in Thailand and the Philippines, adding 460,000 and 405,000 seats respectively compared to January 2025.
- Domestic capacity in Myanmar has reduced further by 42.3% year-on-year, with 84k fewer seats.

- Singapore Changi remains the largest airport in Southeast Asia in January 2026, with 3.7m seats. This represents a 0.7% reduction in capacity compared to last year.
- Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur follow as the second and third busiest airports, with 3.63m and 3.62m seats respectively.
- Of those in the Top 10, Hanoi grew at the fastest rate, up 22.2% vs last year.
- Phuket saw the largest decline in airline capacity of those in the Top 10, down 2.6% compared to January 2025.

Where do International Flights From SOUTHEAST Asia Go?
- Capacity to the rest of Asia Pacific remains the largest international market, with 19.1m seats, up 3.9% year-on-year (an additional 725k seats).
- International capacity within Southeast Asia is the next largest market, with 7.3m seats, up 3.8% year-on-year (an additional 271k seats compared to January 2025).
- Capacity to Europe and North America continues to grow at the fastest rates this month, increasing by 14.6% and 13.4% respectively.

- AirAsia is Southeast Asia's largest carrier in January 2026 with 2.9m seats, an increase of 0.7% year-on-year.
- Thai AirAsia and Batik Air increased at the fastest rate year-on-year, with growth in capacity of 13.9% and 13.7% respectively.
- Of those in the Top 10, Lion Air recorded the largest year-on-year capacity decline, down 12.8% versus January 2025, equivalent to 354,000 fewer seats.
