How Much Airline Capacity is There in SouthEast Asia This Month?

  • Overall capacity in Southeast Asia grew by 10.7% compared to March 25 to 54.4 million seats.
  • Year-on-year, international capacity has increased by 9.1%, whilst domestic capacity has increased by 12.7%.
  • International capacity accounts for 56% share of the market, and domestic capacity represents the remaining 44% market share.
*As of July 2025, international capacity is reported on a two-way basis (previously one-way departing).

  • Indonesia remains Southeast Asia's largest market with 10.6m seats, with capacity increasing this month by 10.4% compared to March 2025.
  • Thailand is the next largest market in Southeast Asia with 8.5m seats, an 8.3% increase in capacity vs last year.
  • Capacity in Malaysia is growing at the fastest rate of 21.8% - 1.1m additional seats compared with last year.
  • Capacity in Myanmar continues to fall, down 17.1% compared with March 2025, a reduction of 59,000 seats.

  • Indonesia is the largest domestic market in Southeast Asia with 8.5m seats, an increase of 11.1% in capacity compared to March 2025.
  • Domestic capacity increased at the fastest rate in Malaysia by 28.4% year-on-year, which is 647k additional seats.
  • Domestic capacity in Myanmar has reduced by 41.6%, 88k fewer seats.

Which is the Busiest Airport in SouthEast Asia?

  • Singapore Changi remains the largest airport in the region, with 3.7m seats. This represents a 4.6% increase in capacity compared to March 2025.
  • Kuala Lumpur and Bangkok are the second and third busiest airports, both with capacity of 3.6m seats.
  • Of those in the Top 10, Kuala Lumpur and Hanoi grew at the fastest rate, up 22% and 17.1% respectively vs last year.

Where do International Flights From SOUTHEAST Asia Go?

  • Capacity to the rest of Asia Pacific remains the largest international market with 18.5m seats, an increase of 9.9% (1.7m more seats) vs last year.
  • International capacity within SE Asia, the next largest market with 7.2m seats, grew by 6.9% (460k more seats) vs Mar 2025.
  • Capacity to North America continues at the fastest rate this month, increasing by 13.8%.

TOP 10 LARGEST SOUTHEAST ASIAN AIRLINES BY SEATS | march 2026


  • AirAsia continues to be the region's largest carrier with 3.2m seats this month, an increase of 28.8% vs March 2025. AirAsia is a key driver of Malaysia’s air capacity growth, particularly on domestic routes (where it dominates) and increasingly on international flights through its hub strategy and fleet expansion.
  • PT Super Air Jet, Cebu Pacific Air, and Philippine Airlines increased capacity by 13.9%, 13.7% and 13.5% respectively vs last year.
  • Of those in the Top 10, Lion Air continues to reduce capacity at the fastest rate of 7.6% vs March 2025 (173k fewer seats).
