China Southern: 2025 in stats

  • China Southern Airlines only grew overall capacity marginally (0.1%) in 2025, with domestic capacity declining for the airline (-2.3%), while its international capacity grew by 17.6%.

  • The largest international market for the airline in 2025 was Japan with 1.3 million seats, an increase of 45% on 2024 levels, followed by Republic of Korea with 1 million seats.
  • In a similar pattern to China Eastern and Air China, the airline is benefiting from the ability to fly over Russia (unlike its European competitors) to grow European capacity; European capacity has increased by 27.2% since 2019, and by 11% between 2024 and 2025.
  • Guangzhou is the main focus airport for the airline, which accounts for 23 million seats,  nearly twice the size of its second largest hub, Beijing Daxing, at 12 million seats.
