In February 2023, the three US airlines adding most seat capacity were American Airlines (888,498), United (210,059) and Delta (337,135).

AA is also the largest American airline, followed by Southwest and Delta.

Virgin Atlantic has demonstrated a bold tactic of quickly canceling less profitable routes  With most of their sales coming from Europe and North America, they could return to their previously successful strategy of jumping into mature markets where their major competitor, British Airways, has a significant presence.

This means competition is hotting up for airlines in Scandinavia, with recent big winners including Ryanair (+36% capacity), Vueling (+100% capacity) and Norway’s Wideroe Flyveselskap (+8% capacity).

In February 2023,  the South East Asian country with most airline capacity is Indonesia (8,975,064), followed by Thailand (5,656,934) and Viet Nam (5,579,406). Overall capacity in South East Asia in February 2023 remains 22% behind 2019 at 31.2 million seats.
