The most popular flight route in the US this month is a quick trip up the West coast from Los Angeles International (LAX) to San Francisco (SFO), which takes about 1.5 hours. In October 2024 there are 319,064 seats scheduled on this route, about 0.4% of all US domestic capacity. Another route leading to Los Angeles takes second place on the list, Las Vegas (LAS) to Los Angeles (LAX), with 303,3984 scheduled seats.

Atlanta is a key connecting hub airport, and the busiest airport in the US. It features twice on this list of the busiest US domestic flight routes, firstly on the third busiest route, Atlanta (ATL)-Orlando (MCO), and then again on the 8th busiest route, Atlanta (ATL) – New York La Guardia (LGA).

New York La Guardia (LGA) – Chicago (ORD), with 283,592 seats is the 4th busiest domestic airline route in the US, closely followed by the longest flight on the list, New York (JFK) – Los Angeles (LAX). Then comes the shortest route on this list – the quick island hop from Honolulu (HNL), the US airport with best on-time performance last month, to Kahului (OGG) in Hawaii, with 281,910 seats in October.

Southwest and United added over 8,700 seats this month on the routes from Denver (DEN) – Phoenix (PHX) and Denver (DEN) – Las Vegas (LAS). DEN-PHX takes seventh place while DEN-LAS comes in 9th. Denver (DEN) - Chicago (ORD) is in tenth place on the list of the busiest US flight routes, with 239,841 seats this month.
