Highlights from the latest OTP monthly data:
All airlines:
- With an exceptional 97.77% of flights operating on time, Garuda Indonesia was the most punctual airline in May.
- Asian-based carriers dominated the top ten, with half being North East Asian. Jeju Airlines, the South Korean LCC, finished sixth with a 92.18% OTP rate but reported no cancellations across the 6,682 flights tracked.
- One of the few non-Asian airlines in the top ten for May was Royal Jordanian, in third place with an OTP of 93.68% and a cancellation rate of just 0.60%, given the wider regional disruption this represents a strong performance.
Cancellations:
- Sixteen airlines achieved a 100% operational record in May with Jet2 (68.99% OTP), the UK-based airline operating the most flights (14,298) without a single cancellation, closely followed by CEBU Pacific who operated all 12,412 scheduled flights and achieved 81.84% OTP.
- May was a difficult month for Intercaribbean Airways. With just two-thirds of flights departing on time and a cancellation rate of 14.88% - the highest of any carrier globally - the airline faced significant operational pressure. Other airlines with high cancellation rates included Air Inuit, China Express Airlines and SpiceJet, which all cancelled more than 5% of their planned operation.
Low-cost carriers:
- Tracking low-cost carrier (LCC) OTP in May reveals that Norwegian Air Shuttle was the most punctual European-based airline taking second spot behind Jeju Airlines globally.
- In general, cancellation rates across the LCC carriers were below those of legacy airlines in May, although Citilink (2.61%), Urumqi Airlines (1.36%) and Azul Airlines (1.25%) proved exceptions to that rule.

How is airline OTP calculated?
- Airline on-time performance is based on actual gate arrival times. Flights that arrive within 15 minutes of the schedule are considered on time. Arriving 15 minutes or more after the scheduled time is considered not on time.
- Cancellations are included in our data and are considered not on-time.
