February’s on-time performance (OTP) rankings are now available. The data highlights the percentage of flights that arrived on schedule.
Highlights from the latest OTP monthly data:
All airlines:
- February is regarded as one of the hardest months to deliver on-time performance but last month saw some remarkable performances in this key area of operational metrics.
- While ranking second and third out of all airlines for OTP during the month, Star Flyer (93.9%) and FlySafair (93.8%) both reported no cancellations in some challenging conditions.
- Fuji Dream Airlines remains the most punctual carrier across their 2,000 plus flights in February with a 94% OTP, although they did cancel 15 flights.
Major airlines:
- Across the major carriers (those that operated more than 20,000 flights in the month), Hainan Airlines claimed first place with 86.5% OTP and a cancellation rate of 0.07% - remarkable given how harsh operating conditions can be in China at this time of year.
- British Airways continues its steady progress in punctuality, finishing in second place with 85.7% of flight arrivals on time.
- OneWorld partner Qantas were not far behind in third spot at 85.1%.
- Among the low-cost carriers in the major category, easyJet edged ahead of Ryanair with an OTP of 80.5%, narrowly surpassing its rival’s 80.4%.
Large airlines:
- In the large category (airlines operating between 10,000 and 20,000 flights in the month) two carriers, COPA Airlines and Aeromexico, achieved OTP levels in excess of 90%. Both feature regularly at the top end of this category.
- Two carriers from the Middle East region appear in the top ten: Saudia which has been consistently improving performance recorded 88.6% OTP and Qatar Airways achieved 81.3%.
North American Airlines:
- In the North American market, where monthly OTP is highly competitive, Alaska Airlines led February’s rankings with 84.6%, finishing more than three percentage points ahead of second-placed United Airlines on 81.3%.
- Adverse weather led to operational challenges in the region for several carriers, with Cape Air cancelling 8.1% of its scheduled services, JetBlue losing 7.5% of its schedule, and Spirit 7% of its planned operations.
Congratulations to the top three major airlines achieving the best OTP in February:
🥇 Hainan Airlines

How is Airline OTP Calculated?
- Airline on-time performance is based on actual gate arrival times. Flights that arrive within 15 minutes of the schedule are considered on time. Arriving 15 minutes or more after the scheduled time is considered not on time.
- Cancellations are included in our data and are considered not on-time.
