Which is the Busiest AIrport in the World?

  • In July 2025 Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport (ATL) maintains its position as the world’s busiest airport, handling 5.7 million seats - up 1% compared to July 2024. Dubai International Airport (DXB) remains in second place with 5.3 million seats, a 3% increase compared to last year.
  • Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD) is in third place, recording the largest capacity increase among the Top 10 airports with an 11% growth in capacity, reaching 4.76 million seats. Istanbul Airport (IST) closely follows in fourth position with 4.75 million seats, up 8% from the previous year.
  • Tokyo Haneda (HND) and London Heathrow (LHR) remain steady with little to no change in capacity in fifth and eighth place, respectively.

  • Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW) is the only airport in the Top 10 to show a decline, dropping 2% year on year to 4.72 million seats and is in sixth place.
  • Denver International (DEN) continues to grow, up 3% with 4.65 million seats, while Shanghai Pudong (PVG) has experienced a 5% increase.
  • Guangzhou Baiyun (CAN) is in tenth place with 4.36 million seats, up 1% from last year.

  • Dubai International Airport (DXB) remains the world’s busiest international airport in July 2025 with 5.28 million seats, a 3% increase compared to last year, adding nearly 160,000 seats. London Heathrow (LHR) stays in second place with 4.28 million seats and a similar capacity to last year.
  • Amsterdam Airport (AMS) ranks third with 3.78 million seats, and capacity is 5% higher than last year.
  • Seoul Incheon (ICN) is in fourth place with 3.75 million seats, up 4%, while Istanbul Airport (IST) saw a notable 8% growth, adding 267,904 seats and moving to fifth position.
  • Paris Charles de Gaulle (CDG), Singapore Changi (SIN), and Frankfurt (FRA) have all experienced moderate growth of 2%, with each adding between 72,000 and 80,000 seats compared to July 2024.
  • Hong Kong International Airport (HKG) experienced the largest capacity growth among the Top 10 compared to last year, increasing by 12% and adding over 366,000 seats, a clear indication of the region’s ongoing travel recovery.
  • Doha (DOH) was the only airport to see a reduction in capacity, down 1%, with 21,161 fewer seats than in July 2024.

Which is Europe's Busiest Airport?

  • Istanbul Airport (IST) remains the busiest airport in Europe in July 2025 with 4.75 million seats, marking an 8% increase compared to the same month last year and the largest seat gain in the Top 10 with over 358,000 additional seats.
  • London Heathrow Airport (LHR) is in second place with 4.53 million seats, maintaining similar capacity to last year. In third position is Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG) with 4.04 million seats, up 1% year on year.
  • Frankfurt International Airport (FRA) and Amsterdam (AMS) follow closely, both showing strong performance. Frankfurt International Airport (FRA) added over 113,000 seats (+3%), while Amsterdam (AMS) saw a 5% rise in capacity, equating to an increase of more than 171,000 seats.
  • Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen Airport (SAW) continues to demonstrate the strongest growth trend, increasing capacity by 13% year on year with over 292,000 additional seats, and is in tenth place.
  • Madrid (MAD) and Rome Fiumicino (FCO) are the only airports in the Top 10 to see a decline in capacity, both down 1% from July 2024, and are in sixth and eighth place respectively.
