Airline cuts fares

September 10, 2008

A fall in the price of oil has led a Russian airline to cut its fares.

Transaero Airlines said fares would go down today (September 10) by as much as 5%.

The carrier offered a range of cuts which included 3% off all domestic flights, 5% off the cheapest seats, 2% off flights to the former CIS countries and 1.5% off all other international services.

This is the second time the carrier has cut its fares.

Last year it reduced fares three times on flights between Moscow and the Far East.

Oil was priced at $103 a barrel in some markets today, having fallen steadily from a high of $147 in July.
