Airlines sign international partnership deal
October 16, 2008
S7 Airlines, Russian’s largest domestic carrier, today (October 16) signed an agreement to expand its services in Europe.
The deal was signed in Moscow with German low cost carrier Air Berlin and its partner Austrian carrier NIKI.
Under the agreement S7, NIKI and Air Berlin, Germany’s second largest carrier, will share existing services on five routes from Moscow to Frankfurt, Dusseldorf, Munich, Hanover and Vienna.
The three carriers will also offer unrestricted sale of tickets for each other’s flights.
The tie up will enable S7 and Air Berlin to offer up to seven flights a day from Moscow to Germany.
After the signing the three carriers said they intended to extend the agreement into other areas in the future.
Vladislav Filev, S7’s general director, said: “Code-share cooperation with large international airlines yields a lot of opportunities for S7 Airlines in Europe.
“We have the most extensive domestic flights network in Russia and we are also ready to cooperate efficiently in Western Europe.”
Joachim Hunold, Air Berlin’s ceo, said: “This partnership allows us to strengthen our Russian operations considerably and to offer our passengers a greater choice of routes and more frequent flights to and from Russia.”
