Lufthansa's Italian offshoot ready for take off
January 28, 2009
A two-for-one ticket offer marks the start of flights between London and Milan by Lufthansa Italia, the German airline’s Italian offshoot. Four flights a day will be offered from Heathrow from the end of March.
Tickets start at £99 with the two-for-one deal applying to bookings made by February 10 online at Lufthansa.com.
Flights to Milan-Malpensa will initially operate from next month from Barcelona and Paris, followed by Brussels, Budapest, Bucharest and Madrid in early March and Lisbon and Heathrow at the end of March.
The first two Airbus A319 aircraft in the Lufthansa Italia are configured to seat 138 passengers in business and economy class.
Italian-speaking flight attendants will offer passengers Italian food and drinks such as spumante, grappa or averna.
Lufthansa UK and Ireland general manager Marianne Sammann said: “The introduction of Lufthansa Italia’s new four times daily non-stop service from London-Heathrow to Milan will allow us to offer both business and leisure travellers alike a convenient and frequent service to northern Italy with the high Lufthansa quality which our customers expect.”
