OAG launches Inforwarding in North America

4 March 2005

OAG Worldwide Ltd., the global content management company specializing in travel and transport, today announced the launch of Inforwarding, an Internet-based service (www.inforwarding.com) providing operational information and rates distribution services to the airline cargo and freight forwarder community. The Chicago community portal is the first of several planned launches throughout North American regions in 2005.

“The acquisition of Inforwarding and subsequent launch of that service in North America is a further step in the transformation of OAG, from its traditional role as an English language print publisher to its new role as a multi-channel, multilingual content management and distribution company in the travel and transport sector,” said Joe Laughlin, vice president of sales and service for OAG.

Inforwarding provides local, market-based Internet services which enable airline cargo teams to efficiently communicate valuable information with their freight forwarder customers, such as new routes, offers or other marketing promotions. In addition to free announcements, Inforwarding provides real-time cargo rates data to subscribing forwarders. Currently, Inforwarding operates in seven European countries and counts over 300 air carriers and 7,000 individual subscribers as customers. Until now, the service has not been available to the cargo community in North America.

Inforwarding was founded in 2001 by Dirk de Rooij and Bart Jan Haasbeek.  Building on their extensive cargo experience, they created a fast growing company with tremendous potential. Dirk and Bart Jan will be working closely with OAG to lead the next phase of growth.

“Integrating into the established worldwide strength and reputation of OAG provides the resources and infrastructure necessary to accelerate the growth of Inforwarding,” Said Dirk de Rooij, co-founder of Inforwarding. “There are considerable synergies between the cargo offerings of both Inforwarding and OAG.”

“Becoming part of OAG provides Inforwarding with the stability, resources and expertise to move closer to the objective of creating a much broader–based, independent information exchange for the cargo market place,” said Bart Jan Haasbeek, co-founder of Inforwarding. We are excited about this prospect and look forward to the continuing support of a loyal and growing customer base as we expand into new markets.”

OAG’s existing cargo offerings include cargo Internet schedules and cargo routing tools for airlines and freight forwarders, printed guides, and various customized schedule data offerings. OAG has several additional on-line cargo services planned to launch in the near future.
