Real-time Flight Status Information distributed via the web from OAG

8  November  2005

OAG, the world's largest provider of flight schedules and online travel information, today unveiled OAG Web-FiDS, a web-based Flight Information Display System.

OAG Web-FiDS provides medium sized airports, airlines and travel-related service companies worldwide with a cost-effective way of distributing passenger and cargo flight schedules and flight status to their customers. Data can either be integrated into existing websites or displayed on monitors at multiple locations such as airports and hotels. OAG collates this unique data from airlines, airports and air-traffic-control and hosts the database.

Standard features of OAG Web-FiDS include carrier, flight number, departure/arrival airport, scheduled time, estimated/actual time, status (ie. delayed, on-time, arrived) and gate and terminal information. By combining the OAG schedules database with flight status data, OAG is able to provide a fully-hosted remote solution with data updates every minute.

Customers can also choose how they want the data to be displayed, with OAG providing a customised interface that can reflect corporate branding and individual preferences. OAG Web-FiDS also provides the facility for companies to distribute flight status notification directly to customers on their mobile devices via SMS or email messages.

"OAG Web-FiDS offers huge benefits to small and medium sized companies who are looking for cost-effective systems to improve customer service levels, communication and operations" commented Duncan Alexander, Managing Director for OAG Business Development. "Existing customers include Mobile Airport in the US and Addison Lee, a London based company offering car and courier services. Both companies were looking for a solution that would distribute flight status information and required little or no time on their part to implement. Combining the OAG schedules database and flight status means we can provide the most up-to-date, comprehensive and accurate information on flight schedules and flight status to companies worldwide".

Peter Ingram, IT Director, Addison Lee added "Keeping our controllers and drivers informed of flight cancellations, delays and other changes in flight schedules has proved invaluable for Addison Lee. OAG Web-FiDS has given us the means to improve operational efficiency by empowering our fleet of 1200 Minicab Drivers with the most up to date information available. This has dramatically reduced waiting time at airports and will ultimately help us to reduce costs."

Airlines that would like to include their Flight Status on OAG Web-FiDS should contact Ethan Halevi, Product Manager on +44 (0)1582 695257. To request a free trial of OAG Web-FiDS, please visit http://www.oag.com/go/webfids
