OAG Signs 10-year deal with Amadeus

2  March  2004

OAG, the world’s leading source of independent flight schedule information, today announced the signing of a new ten year deal with Amadeus, one of the world’s leading GDS and travel technology providers.

The new agreement will mean that OAG’s data will continue to be used by many of the world’s leading travel agents, travel websites and other related aviation industry organisations that are supported by Amadeus. The length of the new agreement reflects Amadeus’s confidence in OAG and the scale and accuracy of its database. OAG has supplied data to Amadeus since it was set up.

David Doctor, Amadeus’ Director Airline Marketing & Sales, commented, “Through the new agreement with OAG, we are able to provide our customers with accurate, comprehensive flight information. We are delighted to have secured OAG’s services for another ten years and look forward to an ongoing excellent working relationship.”

The completion of the Amadeus deal means that OAG has now signed long term contracts with all four of the world’s major GDS reservation systems, supplying them with flight schedule and related information.  With most reservations being made through the traditional travel agencies and internet travel e-portals, all of which are linked to one or more of the GDS, OAG data plays a critical part in the majority of air travel bookings made worldwide.

Duncan Alexander, Managing Director  of OAG data commented:

“We are delighted to extend our relationship with Amadeus for another decade! As one of the world’s leading GDS they play a significant role in the distribution strategy of airlines as well as the wider transport industry”.

OAG is continuing to engage, with all the major GDS, to look at new ways to improve the distribution and publication of schedules and wider flight information into the primary travel channels, the emerging e-portals and other markets supported by the GDS.
