OAG Worldwide announces its new exclusive Web site for OAG Data Suppliers, created to enhance communications and provide easy access to critical information related to the collection and distribution of schedule data for airline and rail schedule data representatives. The new OAG data community, located at http://datahome.oag.com, will keep all transportation schedule data suppliers informed of industry standard changes, enhancements to OAG schedule processing, and will provide a forum for the exchange of information and ideas. OAG is the leading source of airline schedules in the world, providing data to every global distribution system used by most travel agencies and online travel sites. "Our goal is to create a Web site for data suppliers that helps facilitate communications between OAG and its air and rail data suppliers, as well as the schedules community overall," said OAG. "The initial Web site is rich in content related to the exchange of data with OAG. Using the Internet to convey information enables us centralize and synchronize communications with our data suppliers." Through the OAG data site, members will have online access to a wide variety of information, including the OAG Schedules Bulletin, the GDS Display Schedule, an industry events calendar, and valuable information about changes to industry data standards and formats. The site also features guidelines to help get new schedules suppliers started and help for suppliers who are considering changing the method they use to update schedules. "OAG plays a critical role as an advocate for the airline industry," commented Tom Kiser, Manager Capacity Planning, at American Airlines, and registered user of the site. "The new OAG Web site for data suppliers serves as an excellent point of reference, reinforcing agreed changes to industry standards and facilitating communication between data suppliers all over the world. It also contains the latest GDS display schedule – a critical piece of information used in the synchronization of flight schedules." Other registered users of the new OAG Web site agree. Added Colin Goodburn, IATA Schedule Information Standards Committee Chairman and Manager Schedules Information at British Airways, "The new OAG Web site is geared for my needs as a data supplier. It provides airlines with open access to a wide variety of high-level, useful and interesting information that enables me and my team to be better informed, and potentially work smarter and more efficiently." As new information is made available on the site, members will receive an advisory e-mail with a hyperlink to the latest data communication notice. Previous information will also be stored on the site, creating a valuable reference source. OAG data suppliers must register to be part of this new community by visiting http://datahome.oag.com. There is no fee to register or become a member.
