Return to Cheaper Air Fares
Flexibility with Minimum & Maximum Stay Fares

Some discounted - cheaper - fares allow the traveler to change travel arrangements after the ticket had been purchased. These fares are preferable for business travelers with constantly changing schedules.

Case Study with a Discounted Fare

Mr. Frank Leonard has a ticket from Manchester, UK to Dubai, UAE an Excursion fare that cost 25% less than a fully flexible Economy fare. The ticket shows:

Manchester to Dubai 02 October

(arrives 03 Oct)

Dubai to Manchester 10 October

The excursion fare has a minimum stay of 6 days and a maximum stay of 6 months.

The Dubai office moves an important presentation to 15 October and asks Mr. Leonard to change his travel plans. Because the excursion fare allows changes he can rebook the return flight from 10 Oct to 16 Oct.

Mr. Leonard can also change his departure date. Assuming he doesn't want to spend 13 days in Dubai, we can calculate the last date he can depart, based on the minimum stay requirement.

Because flights from Manchester to Dubai arrive the next day Mr. Leonard will now depart on 09 October.
