Under each of the above fares, we saw the conditions relating to the booking. The first five were all booked a number of days before the journey begins, e.g. "Booked 7 days". You'll find more guidance of "Advance Purchase" fares in Unit 7. Maximum Stay Rules All fares have a maximum stay rule, usually shown as "Max stay". The fully flexible fares all have a maximum stay of 1 year. See Unit 5 for more details. The maximum stays above are for one month, two months and six months. Generally, the longer the stay the higher the fare. With a return fare from London, UK to Chicago, USA the trip starts and ends in London, so the maximum stay is in Chicago. If a traveler selects the fare with a maximum stay of 2 months this will be the longest period of time that the traveler can spend in Chicago. Minimum Stay Rules Most discounted fares have a minimum stay requirement. Many have a minimum stay of at least 7 days/nights, while a few have a minimum stay of 2 days/nights. With a minimum of 7 days, a traveler must stay at the destination for at least 7 nights which will include a weekend. It is assumed that business travelers want to spend their weekends relaxing at home. At many destinations the minimum stay is shown as SU - the Sunday Rule, see below. Sunday Rule / SU (Saturday Night stay) This rule means that the traveler must stay over a Saturday night at the destination. Therefore, if your traveler arrived on a Saturday, the first day he could fly home would be the next day (Sunday). This is indicated on the fares table as "SU".
