Travel Deals for December 06

December  2006

Millennium & Copthorne International is currently rolling out a new global Frequent Guest Recognition programme aimed at rewarding its regular corporate travellers. The first phase, introduced at the end of last month, included 15 of its key properties in Singapore, London, New York, Boston, Chicago and Los Angeles. More will be added from May next year.

Among the key benefits is complimentary internet access at M&C hotels for members, helping them stay connected for their business needs as well as keeping in touch with family and friends when away from home.

VIP check-in and check-out is another advantage, offering a dedicated area to ensure hassle-free transactions. Further features include fast-track registration, and an early check-in and late checkout facility whenever rooms are available. FGR members will also receive welcome treats, free upgrades and special occasion celebration offers.

Guests who have chalked up repeat stays of more than 15 nights over a 12-month period across any of the 15 participating properties, will be prequalified and invited to join the programme. More than 6,000 members have already qualified. www.fgrclub.com

Cut-price Hong Kong
Cheaper packages to Hong Kong are being offered by UK-based Jetlife following the introduction of low-cost flights on the London Gatwick route by Oasis.

Rates range from £410 to £479, based on 3-plus or 4-star accommodation for four nights, and between £468 and £628 respectively for a seven-night stay. Prices are on a room-only basis for two people sharing, and are valid from early January until around mid-March.

Oasis Hong Kong Airlines introduced daily cut-price flights in October.

Corporate savings
Air Berlin has extended its corporate rate programme, which offers savings of up to 40%, to the UK market. The carrier uses London Stansted as a hub for flights to and from Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Hungary, Portugal, Spain and the Balearic Islands, with domestic services from Stansted to Manchester, Belfast City and Glasgow. There are separate departures from Bournemouth. During the first seven months of the year, Air Berlin saw UK passenger traffic soar by 55% over the same period in 2005.

In its home market, the budget airline has signed up over 100 major firms and now hopes its special offer will appeal to UK-base companies which book large numbers of flights. Unlike many of its budget rivals, Air Berlin serves in-flight snacks and drinks free of charge, and offers through-checked baggage and a frequent flyer scheme. Companies interested in the corporate rate programme should contact: corporate@airberlin.com

Classic choice
One of Scotland's finest country house hotels – Greywalls in East Lothian – is offering corporate weekend breaks with a difference, with the use of a classic car thrown in for good measure. The 23-room hotel, whose clientele over the years has included Brigitte Bardot, Barbara Streisand, Nick Faldo, Ernie Els and Hugh Grant, is less than half an hour from Edinburgh and is adjacent to the clubhouse at the renowned Muirfield golf course.

The classic car package includes dinner, bed and breakfast for two people, and the hire of a choice of classic cars, representing a 25% discount if booked separately. Rates are from £227.25 for a one-night stay and £541.75 for two, with full car insurance and breakdown cover included, and no restrictions on mileage. www.greywalls.co.uk

Christmas night free...
Online booking agency Hotelopia is offering a free night’s accommodation in Prague on December 25 if you book a minimum stay of four nights over the Christmas period.

The deal applies to a selection of 3-, 4- and 5-star properties, with rates ranging from as little as £9 (€13.35) per person per night, up to £45 (€66.75), based on shared accommodation. Visit www.hotelopia.co.uk
