Blue 1, the Finnish member of the SAS Group, is launching a two-class service on the Helsinki-London route, offering passengers its upgraded Economy Extra in addition to the normal Economy product. Customers travelling on the airline’s daily (except Saturday) flight from the Finnish capital to Stansted can now take advantage of flexible tickets, fast-track check-in, dedicated cabin space and complimentary food and wine during the flight. Blue 1’s flexible one-way tickets are combinable across the two classes allowing customers to tailor their travel to suit their individual needs, be that Economy Extra on the outbound leg and Economy Class for the return. The flexible tickets allow customers the option to make changes to their booking, even rebook on another SAS service. The Economy Extra ticket entitles purchasers to a full refund on cancellation and EuroBonus members, the SAS frequent flyer programme, receive 50% more points per one way flight than passengers travelling in Economy. Lead-in fares start from around €106 (£74) one way, including taxes. Silverjet spreads its wings Silverjet starts flying from London Luton to Dubai from this month (November) with fares from £1,099 return. The all-Business Class carrier says premium air traffic to the emirate is growing at 20 per cent year-on-year, the UK accounting for almost three quarters of a million visitors in 2006, representing 10 per cent of the total market. Its passengers will arrive and depart from the 5,000ft2 Executive Terminal at Dubai International. Silverjet has now added a second daily departure on the Luton-New York Newark route, leaving at 16:45 and arriving at 19:45. In the reverse direction, the extra flight departs at 21:45 and arrives at 09:45 the following morning. Delta adds limo transfers Delta Air Lines has introduced complimentary chauffeur-driven transfers at London Gatwick and at New York JFK. It is available to both outbound and inbound BusinessElite passengers travelling within a 50-mile radius of Gatwick, and from JFK to any of the five boroughs of New York City. All-Business Class carrier Eos Airlines is to operate a new service between London Stansted and New York Newak next spring, followed by a Paris-JFK route in the autumn. Bmibaby launches a four-times-a-week service between Birmingham and Madrid on December 7. Flights operate on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday and cost from £24.99 one way inclusive. Eastern Airways has taken over the Manchester-London Stansted route from Air Berlin. It is operating three flights each weekday, including a 07.15 southbound departure aimed at business passengers.
