Chairman Paul Stoddart said the decision was made with "great regret", adding that "for whatever reasons, we have not had the support we needed to operate in that environment against big, established carriers". The airline launched its budget business class service at the end of November with a fleet of 60-seat Boeing 737s, and had announced plans to fly to other domestic destinations this year. However, it recently delayed the start of its Perth service, citing lack of demand for an overnight flight. Cork cuts Ryanair is reducing its daily service between Liverpool and Cork to four flights a week because of a sharp rise in charges by the Irish airport. The low-cost carrier is claiming that recent price increases, including a 300% hike in the rental charge for check-in and ticket desks, will increase its annual expenses at the Irish airport by more than €30,000. New service delayed Maxjet, the low-cost all-business class transatlantic airline, postponed the launch of its Stansted-Washington service by three weeks, with a start date now scheduled for April 3. At the same time, it plans to offer five, rather than four, weekly departures on the route. Swiss adds Santiago Swiss International Air Lines is extending its intercontinental network to Santiago de Chile with the introduction of the summer schedule. And from next month, it is also adding a further daily departure on the Zurich-New York route. Gulf doubles flights to Oman Gulf Air has virtually doubled the number of flights on the Muscat-London Heathrow route, and is now operating a twice-daily service, except Thursdays.
