TIP OF THE MONTH

Produce a report to show Airline Capacity deployment from Denver International Airport.

This week we will guide you on how to construct a report to reveal the airline frequency share based on non-stop departures for the week commencing 19th May 2008.

Start by clicking on the ‘Run a New Query’ link in MAX Online’s homepage then set up your query using the yellow Query Filters

in the Edit Query window;

Departure Airport Code(s)	DEPARTURE FROM folder
Passenger (excluding surface)	SERVICE folder
Operating Flights Only	CODE SHARE folder
Week Commenc’g Date(s)	PERIOD folder
Non-Stop Flights only	ROUTING folder

Now select the following variables as your Results Objects or .

Carrier Airline Code	AIRLINE folder
Carrier Airline Name	AIRLINE folder
Frequency	FREQUENCY & CAPACITY folder

Your screen should look like the image below (click on the chart to view a larger image)

Click on Run Query; select DEN as Departure Airport Code. Select 2008-05-19 as the Week Commencing Date.

Click OK to run the report.

Max Online displays the table with all carriers from DEN airport and the number of weekly departures they each offer.

Follow the steps below to rank the airlines by number of flights;

Click into the data contained within the Frequency column.
Click the Apply/Remove sort button on the menu toolbar and select the Descending option.

MAX Online displays DEN departures in descending order as illustrated in the screenshot below.

The report shows that United Airlines is the carrier offering the highest number of weekly departures with 2,830 flights followed in second place by Frontier Airlines with 1,388 and Southwest in third with 532 flights, respectively.

Next, we will calculate the frequency share for each carrier departing from Denver.

Click into the data contained in the Frequency column.

Click the Sum button in the Report toolbar and select the Percentage option from the sub-menu.

The results will be displayed as in the image below.

MAX Online reveals the top 3 airlines by frequency share as United with 48.29%, Frontier Airlines Inc. (F9) with 23.67% and Southwest Airlines (WN) with 9.07% respectively for the week commencing 19th May 2008. Using the options available in the Properties tab on the left hand side of the Edit Report screen you can create a report with the same or similar look and feel to the one displayed below.
