TIP OF THE MONTH

Identify the number of operations between a specific region and a country.

Example: For this month’s tip we will create a report that shows all airlines serving the United States (USA) from Africa along with the days of operation and the actual routing.

On the homepage of MAX Online, click ‘Run a New Query’.
Start setting up your report by selecting the following yellow filters;

Now select the following fields as Results Objects.

Your screen should look like the image below (click on the chart to view a larger image)

Click on “Run Query”.  When prompted enter  AF1 to AF4 (the four African Key Regions) as the Departure Region Code(s).  For the Arrival Country Code enter ‘US’.  Finally select 2007-05-14 for the week commencing date and then click ‘OK’.

MAX Online displays all routes from Africa to the US by carrier for the week commencing 14 May 2007.  The routing provides the actual itinerary of each direct flight so you can determine that Delta Airlines for example, operates a service from Johannesburg to Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport via Dakar.

To identify the total number of flights offered from Africa to the United States click into the data contained within the ‘Frequency’ column and then select ‘Sum’ from the ‘Insert Sum’ sub menu:

The overall number of weekly flights is then displayed at the foot of the report.

Alter the style of the report by using the options in the ‘Properties’ sub menu.  Below is an example of how you could choose to display the final  layout of the report.
