How to identify the number of first class seats offered by all airlines worldwide.

Start setting up your query using the yellow query filters:

Passenger (excluding surface)

SERVICE folder
Operating Flights Only CODE SHARE folder
Year & Month Number(s) PERIOD folder
Non-Stop Flights only ROUTING folder

Now select the following fields as Results Objects.

Carrier AIrline Code

AIRLINE folder
Carrier Airline Name AIRLINE folder
Number of First Class Seats FREQUENCY & CAPACITY folder

The report displays the total number of first class seats offered by an airline for January 2007.

By creating an ‘Alerter’ you can instantly identify those airlines which offer first class seats.

Click on the data that is contained within the Number of First Class Seats column.  Now click on the red triangle ‘Alerter’ icon that is positioned in the Report toolbar.  The ‘Alerter’ icon is displayed in the following format.

In the Alerter pop up box, click New.  The Alerter Editor will be displayed.  Enter an Alerter Name’ e.g. ‘Number of First Class Seats’

From the Operator drop down menu select the Greater than option and then in the Operand section type the value ‘0’.  Now click Format.  

The Alerter Display pop up box appears.  From the Text section select ‘Font’ ‘Bold’, ‘Size’ ‘10’ and ‘Background Color’Yellow’. 
                                                                                               
Press OK in the Alerter Display, OK in the Alerter Editor and OK in the Alerter.  In the results table OAG MAX Online shows all airlines whose weekly number first class seats is greater than 0.

To remove the Alerter click on the data within the Number of First Class Seats column.  Click on the ‘Alerter’ icon.  Select Remove and choose OK.

NB.  The ‘Alerter’ can be also used to select different types of criteria such as ‘Equal to’, ‘Different from’ as well as ‘Between’.  The available options can be found in the ‘Operator’ drop down menu of the ‘Alerter’ function.

By following the steps below we can examine the results further by revealing the total number of first class seats and ranking the data in descending order to identify those carriers offering the greatest number of first class seats in January 2007:

Step 1 – Click within the data contained in the ‘Number of First Class Seats’ column.  Click on the ‘Insert Sum’ option on the Report toolbar and then select ‘Sum’ from the sub-menu as shown in the image below.

Step 2 – Rank the results using the tabs below.
