TIP OF THE WEEK:

Identify outbound seat capacity available from Dallas/Fort Worth for a particular week.

Start setting up your query using the yellow query filters:

We will exclude from our report flights that depart from Dallas and arrive within the state of Texas.  For this reason we will add an additional filter.  Drag and drop the ‘Arrival State Name(s)’ blue object (this can be found within the ‘ARRIVAL TO’ folder) into the ‘Query Filter’ panel.  As with last week’s example, MAX Online will prompt you to make a selection.  In this case please select for ‘Operator’ Different from: ‘TEXAS’.

Now select the following fields as Results Objects.

Your screen should look like the image below (click on the chart to view a larger image)

Now click on Run Query and select ‘DALLAS/FORT WORTH’ as your ‘Departure City Name(s)’ and ‘2006-11-13’ as your ‘Week Commencing Date’.

Now click ‘OK’ to run the report. 

The results will show the total outbound seat capacity from DFW by arrival city name for the week commencing 13th November 2006.

You can identify the top 5 most popular destinations by sorting the number of seats in descending order.

Step 1 – Click within the ‘Total Number of Seats’ column.

Step 2 – Now rank the data in descending order utilising the ‘Z-A’ sub option from the ‘AZ’ button on the top toolbar as shown in the image below.

The results show that Chicago, Atlanta, New York, Denver and Los Angeles are the most popular destinations out of Dallas/Fort Worth in terms of weekly seat capacity.

You can customise the layout of the report by using the ‘Properties’ tab as shown in previous ‘MAX Bytes’.  The screenshot below shows an example of the customisation we adopted for this report.
