Identify the number of destinations available from a specific airport.

Example: We will produce a report that shows the total number of destinations available from Hong Kong International Airport.

Start setting up your query using the yellow query filters:

Departure Airport Code DEPARTURE FROM folder
All Flights (excluding surface) SERVICE folder
Operating Flights Only  CODE SHARE Folder
Year & Month Number(s)  PERIOD folder

Now select the following fields as Results Objects.

Arrival Airport Name ARRIVAL TO folder
Arrival City Name ARRIVAL TO folder

Your screen should look like the image below (click on the chart to view larger image):

Click on Run Query and select ‘HKG’ as the ‘Departing Airport Code’.  Then select the month that you wish to examine e.g. 200609.

Now Click ‘OK’ to run the report. 

The results show all airports (names and cities) that are linked with HKG during September 2006.

Now follow the steps below to identify the actual number of links:

Step 1 – Click into the data contained within the ‘Arrival Airport Name’ column.

Step 2 – Now click on the drop down menu next to the ‘Auto Sum‘ icon.  This is positioned in the Report toolbar and is displayed in the following format.  The ‘Auto Sum ‘ icon will also be highlighted.

Step 3 – Select the ‘Count’ option.

OAG MAX Online will calculate the number of available airports linked with HKG with the results being displayed at the bottom of the table.

You can repeat the above steps for the Arrival City Name’.  This will enable you to identify the number of cities that are available on direct flights from HKG.

Now select the following fields as Results Objects (blue cubes/purple spheres) from the ‘Air Carrier Traffic’ folder.

Passenger Load Factor
Year
International/Dom/Other

Click on Run Query and select ‘JET BLUE AIRWAYS’ (in UPPER CASE) as your ‘Carrier Name(s)’ and ‘2004 & 2005’ as the ‘Year(s)’.

Now Click OK to run the report.  MAX Online will show the number of passengers carried by Jetblue Airways and the load factors achieved by this carrier in 2004 & 2005.
