How to analyse the flight activity of an airport by Departing Terminal.

Example: How to analyse the overall seat capacity available out of Sydney Airport for the month of August 2006 by Departing Terminal and Arrival Region.

Start setting up your query using the yellow query filters:

Departure Airport Code DEPARTURE FROM folder
Passenger Flights (excluding surface) SERVICE folder
Operating Flights Only CODESHARE folder
Year & Month Number(s) PERIOD folder
Non-Stop Flights Only ROUTING folder

Now select the following fields as Results Objects.

Carrier Airline Code         

AIRLINE folder
Departure Terminal Code DEPARTURE FROM folder
Arrival Region Name   ARRIVAL TO folder
Total Number of Seats   FREQUENCY & CAPACITY folder

Click on Run QuerySelect SYD as the Departure Airport Code and 200608 as the period.  Click OK to run the query.

Once MAX Online displays the results.  Click within the ‘Departure Terminal Code’ column and select the Insert/Remove Break icon that is displayed in the top toolbar.

The results are now grouped by ‘Departure Terminal Code’.  Click within the ‘Arrival Region Name’ column and select the Insert/Remove Break icon to group the data by Arrival Region.

You can also display the available number of seats by airline in descending order by clicking in the column that contains the data and then in the drop down menu next to the A to Z icon in the report toolbar.

The report shows the total number of seats by Departure Terminal (1,2 & 3) and by Arrival Region for Sydney Kingsford Smith Airport for the month of August 2006.

Having applied customisation to the results table, your report should now look like the example below.

The objective is to show the departure terminal value (1, 2 & 3) in all blank cells.  (Click on the chart to view larger image)

Step 1:   Click on the cell that contains the value ‘1’.  All blank cells are automatically highlighted.

Step 2:   Click on the Properties Tab

Step 3:   Select the Break Properties sub option that is available when you click on the following icon.  This is positioned on the left hand side of the screen, as shown in the image below.

Step 4:
   Uncheck the ‘tick’ from the Remove Duplicates option.



The report now includes the Departure Terminal Code. You can repeat this exercise with the Arrival Region Name.
