How to create a market share report for an airline based on the specific aircraft type the carrier is operating within its network.

Start setting up your query using the yellow query filters:

Carrier Airline Code(s) 

AIRLINE folder
All Flights (excluding surface) SERVICE folder
Operating Flights Only CODESHARE folder
Week Commencing Date PERIOD folder
Non-Stop Flights Only   ROUTING folder

Now select the following fields as Results Objects.

Carrier Airline Code 

AIRLINE folder
Specific Aircraft Code AIRCRAFT folder
Frequency  FREQUENCY & CAPACITY folder
   

Click on Run Query and enter an airline code and a week commencing date when prompted.

To save time scrolling to find a specific code, enter the code in the blank space in capitals and then click on the Binoculars icon.  The code will appear in the top window.  Please highlight it and then you can either double click to select or use the double arrows to transfer the code in your values selected area.

Click OK to run the report

The report shows all flights operated by an airline by specific aircraft type.

Once you have run the report, click on the data that is contained within the Frequency column.  As shown previously, click on the drop down menu next to the S icon.

Select the Percentage sub-option. 

Now click on the data within the Specific Aircraft Type column and use the Insert/Remove Break icon shown below to group the data:



OAG MAX Online will show the volume of flights operated by specific aircraft type as a percentage of the total number of flights the selected carrier operates that week.

Example:  How to Produce a frequency and capacity share report for a given route using our Origin & Destination pre-defined report.

From the OAG MAX home page select Airport Reports within the MAX Reports section.  Expand the Airport Reports menu by clicking on the plus ‘+’ symbol.  Now expand the list to view the Origin & Destination Reports option.                                                                                             

There are two pre-defined reports available - MAX O80 (frequency and capacity share by Aircraft), MAXO85 (frequency and capacity share by Carrier). 

This report calculates the share of the market as a percentage of the overall flight frequency and capacity offered by any carrier or aircraft type.

Three load factor scenarios have been incorporated to estimate the potential passenger traffic. The default values are 60%, 68% and 76% representing low, medium and high load factors. However, these values can be overwritten by you, the user.

The results are displayed in both tabular and graphical format. 

Example:  Select report template MAX  O85 - Origin & Destination Weekly Frequency and Capacity Share by Carrier.

Step 1    Select the Departure Airport Code (e.g. LHR)
Step 2    Select the Arrival Airport Code (e.g. AMS)
Step 3    Select the Week Commencing Date (e.g.  2006-05-22)

A selection of multiple periods of time is available.  The reports will appear on separate pages of the report which you can view using the page toggle icon once you have run the query:
  
Step 4    Scroll down the screen and click on Run Query.  Alternatively you can override the default load factor settings by following the on-screen prompts before clicking on Run Query).
