How to produce a quick comparison on transatlantic or transpacific flights between carriers from different regions.

Example:To identify the volume of transatlantic flights operated by European vs. North American airlines.

Start setting up your query using the yellow query filters:

Departure Region Name

DEPARTURE FROM folder
Arrival Region Name ARRIVAL TO folder
Passenger Flights - excluding surface SERVICE folder
Operating Flights Only CODESHARE folder
Week Commencing Date PERIOD folder
Non-Stop Flights Only ROUTING folder

Now select the following fields as Results Objects.

Carrier Region Name

AIRLINE folder
Frequency FREQUENCY & CAPACITY folder

Click on Run Query and select Europe: Western Europe as the ‘Departure Region Name’, and North America as the ‘Arrival Region Name’ and finally 2006-05-15 as the ‘Week Commencing Date’.

Once you have run the report, click on the data that is contained within the Frequency column.

Now click on the drop down menu next to the S icon.  This is positioned in the Report toolbar and is displayed in the following format.  The S icon will also be highlighted.

Now select the Percentage option.  OAG MAX Online will calculate the market share of each category by the available volume of flights. 

If you wish to rank these percentages in descending or ascending order, click on the data that is contained within this column and then select the appropriate option that is available in the drop down menu next to the A to Z icon in the Report toolbar.

Have you accessed any of the Airport Reports yet?

If not, go to the home page of OAG MAX Online, click on Airport Reports within the MAX Reports section.  Expand the Airport Reports menu by clicking on the plus ‘+’ symbol.  Now expand the list to view the Airport Ranking option and select the Weekly sub option. 

There are two report templates available for you.  MAX Z05 (Volume of flights based on Arrival Region), MAXZ10 (volume of flights based on Departing Region).

These reports show the busiest airports within a region based on the number of departing and arriving flights, available over a period of a week or month.

Example:  Pick up report template e.g.  MAXZ10.

Step 1    Select Departing Region Name Latin America : Lower South America

Step 2    Select a Week Commencing Date: 2006-05-08

Step 3    Run the Report

This report ranks all airports in Lower South America based on the number of departing flights for the week commencing 08 May 2006.
