TIP OF THE MONTH:

Create a carrier share report based on the number of domestic operations

Example:This month we will show you how to identify the domestic share of all carriers that operate flights within Brazil.

On the homepage of MAX Online, click ‘Run a New Query’.
Start setting up your report by selecting the following yellow filters;

Departure IATA Country Code(s)

 DEPARTURE FROM folder
Arrival IATA Country Code(s)   ARRIVAL TO folder
Operating Flights Only   CODE SHARE folder
Passenger (excluding surface)  SERVICE folder
Year & Month Number(s) PERIOD folder
Non-Stop Flights only  ROUTING folder

Now select the following fields as Results Objects.

Carrier Airline Name

AIRLINE folder
Frequency  FREQUENCY & CAPACITY folder

Your screen should look like the image below (click on the chart to view a larger image)

Click on “Run Query”.  When prompted enter ‘BR’ as both the ‘Departure & Arrival IATA Country Code’.  Then select ‘200707’ as the Year & Month Number.

MAX Online displays in alphabetical order the list of carriers and their monthly volume of flights within the Brazilian market.

To rank the airlines by frequency click into the ‘Frequency’ column and select ‘Descending’ from the ‘Apply/Remove Sort’ menu.

To calculate the total volume of monthly flights offered within Brazil during July,  click into the data contained within the ‘Frequency’ column and then select ‘Sum’ from the ‘Insert Sum’ sub menu:

The total number of flights within July will appear at the foot of the report.

Once again, by clicking into the data contained within the ‘Frequency’ column but this time selecting ‘Percentage’ from the ‘Insert Sum’ sub menu we can identify each carrier’s market share within Brazil.

By using the options contained within the ‘Properties’ tab you can customise the report’s look and feel to your own requirements.  The following screenshot is an example of how the final report can look like:
